Chinese Ink Workshop
Looking forward to giving a second workshop having done the first on painting using Chinese Ink Brush Painting techniques. The magnolia tree was in full bloom then and provided lots of inspiration.

Chinese Inks and Brush Painting Workshop 19th
June, Kildare
We covered lots of ground; bamboos, pandas,
magnolia by moonlight, magnolia flowers, ‘held’ line and ‘flowing form’ as well
as a little about the philosophy and ethos of Chinese Brush painting techniques. A lovely group of people and I was delighted to be
invited to present the workshop.

Lets hope the magnolia blooms survive..........

Meadowsweet;
Looking forward to creating some more based on wild flowers
Here gold leaf and silver on a jade-a precious colour in Chinese art - background depicts Meadowsweet, a creamy perennial found in meadows, woods and marshes. It was one of 3 herbs held sacred by the celts and was used to flavour mead, for pain relief, to stop bleeding and as a digestive aid. It was included in bridal bouquets to attract love, peace and happiness and starting in 1838 aspirin- derived from its latin name Spirea ULMANA- and in time the non steroidal anti inflammatories now used.
Testimonial for Pet Portrait
Lady Garfield is bowled over by her portrait- in the best possible way!!
“It is indeed a tribute to Sheena’s
talent, her ability to connect with animals and her endless patience that Lady
Garfield choose her to paint her official portrait.
Lady Garfield dictated the terms of
her availability for sittings and choice of poses and, as can be seen from the
photo, she is obviously delighted that her poise and sophistication has been
perfectly captured as befitting a lady who claims to be a reincarnation of
Cleopatra, the queen of the Nile. “

PET PERSONALITY PORTRAITS
How do I work?
I meet your pet, off lead, relaxed and happy. I watch, sketch, photograph your pet and ask you to describe your pet. In the studio your pet’s personality is conveyed in clean, flowing brush strokes on canvas.
What if I cannot meet the pet?
I can sometimes work from photographs and video. I will advise if this is possible having seen the material available.
Please visit Milly's Portrait to see how this can work so well.
There may be addition cost due to the extra time it takes to get to know the pet this way.

Sovereign III- Meadowsweet
Last June I was invited by an American friend to go on a walk in
#Kilshanny led by qualified herbalist Emma Wilcox. She drew our attention
to he abundant variety of wild herbs and plants in the roadside hedgerows and
their potential as food, for healing as well as their beauty. I felt that
during the dry conditions last Summer the vibrant dark green
hedgerows were in stark contrast to the fields of wilting thirsty crops.
In September I was in the #Tyrone Guthrie Centre for two weeks and
a new series of paintings emerged.
I titled the series Sovereign, meaning something of the land, in
its own territory.

Chiming Bells and Ticking Clocks

What a Difference!
Just to share for anyone who feels like some sunshine....
I left Naas in DENSE fog, emerging into a beautiful sunny day and that magical blue hue on the water in Dun Laoghaire today.
The ship in the distance looked as though it was floating above the sea. The photo really doesn't do it justice.
Once back on the M50 the fog enveloped again. Amazing how different two very close places could be.
